In 1969, Dr. Daniel R. Appleton founded Appleton Eye Associates at 25 Green Street in Newburyport, MA, just down the street from our current Newburyport office. As an active contributor to the community, Dr. Appleton was a board member of the First & Ocean National Bank of Newburyport, the Newburyport School Committee, and the American Red Cross.  

Dr. Appleton moved his practice to the current Newburyport location at 39 Green Street in 1973. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he partnered with several optometrists before Dr. Kevin Gasiorowski joined the practice in 1990. Leading up to Dr. Appleton’s retirement, his final partner, Dr. Gasiorowski, purchased Appleton Eye Associates in 2006. 

Since that time, Dr. Gasiorowski has overseen the growth of the practice which is now comprised of seven optometrists and support staff who work in five different locations throughout the North Shore of Massachusetts – Newburyport, Amesbury, Ipswich, North Reading, and South Hamilton. 

Dr. Appleton, who now enjoys life in retirement along with his wife, Sandra, still drops in on his former colleagues from time to time to visit with his successor, Dr. Gasiorowski, as well as his daughters, Deb Gallant and Danielle Caponigro, who still work in the practice founded by their father.
